The Canadian company Cockshutt
Plow of Brentford, Ontario was the first company to produce an independant
PTO which it introduced in 1947. This innovative new wrinkle made such
a tremendous difference to combine and tractor work that eventually every
tractor maker had to fit independent or live PTO's to their tractors. This
Cockshutt 60 was photographed at the Jones, Michigan show last summer and
is a good example of some of the craftsmanship built into these tractors.
